No School Today!

Madison’s softball team (the Dolphins), under the careful guidance of their brilliant coach (Beth), won a tough game last night against their arch-rivals (the all-stars).

I heard a few of the girls discussing the need for a new team name - something to do with the Dolphins not inspiring fear and trembling in the hearts and minds of the other teams. I will be quite interested in seeing how this discussion resolves.

We celebrated their “tuna safe” victory with a family feast of grilled salmon and grilled tomatoes stuffed with cheese and seasonings. Yum! Wished you were there.

The kids are off from school today. We love long weekends! We see changes, especially in Reese, when he’s been at school for a while which are not necessarily positive. A day or two back at home and he’s back to “normal.”

Not sure what the plan is for today. Leading suggestions have been going into DC to look at the remaining cherry blossoms or going fishing. I wonder who suggested each activity?

It’s nice to have a day off every now and then - especially with how busy most of our Saturday and Sunday’s have become. Friday is usually the day I like to take off so it will be nice to spend the day together.

Enjoy your weekend and let’s have a cheer for the killer whales!

The Orca’s? Has a ring to it.

I can relate though. My least favorite thing about my favorite team is their name…and no, I don’t mean their confusion about where Anaheim is. I mean, let’s face it, nothing strikes LESS fear into an opposing team than facing angels.

I’ve always thought it would be fun to have a cross-sport rivalry. Have the Angels face the New Jersey Devils. Talk about spiritual warfare.

Any team coached by the infamous Beth Wray is sure to experience many a victory!

Call me next time you’re grilling…I’ll be there! Shrimp appetizer in hand!

    ………or Baracudas (sp).
The soccer team I love to hate is Manchester United of England also known as the Red Devils. The reason I have them has little to do with with their name and much to do with their rivalry with my fav team Arsenal of Highbury England nicknamed the “Gunners”.

On the national front Nigeria’s soccer team is named the Super Eagles. Our rivals on the continent: The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. Among other taunts we throw their way - the “domitable Lions” or my favorites the “pussycats”.Not surprisingly, my fav NFL team is the Philly Eagles.

Dolphins is not a bad name for a team. After all Dolphins are perhaps the most sophisticatedly interactive animals. Plus they make great teams relying on a highly developed ability communicate. They are consumately social and friendly too.

They are perhaps not as predatory but they certainly are efficient.
