Los ni?±os really enjoy watching The Crocodile Hunter and The Jeff Corwin Experience. Both of these are animal adventure shows on Animal Planet. We watched a couple of episodes last night and I‚Äôm telling you they are fun to watch.

I was watching and thinking what if Steve Irwin (aka the Crocodile Hunter) or Jeff Corwin came to church on Sunday morning and filmed in the auditorium, during our assembly time? What kind of creatures would they find and share with the world?

“Danger, danger, danger” or “Wow, check this out a . . . .” What do you think? What kind of “creatures” would they find?

I’d say there would be a mixture.
Some comfortable and taking a cat nap, some alert and listening, and a crocodile here and there docile,
just waiting to snap at a bite.

My friend, Jim, was in charge of VBS at his church, a rather large and wealthy one near our homes. He put together a hilarious video to solicit help. In it, he had the pastor dress up like Steve Irwin and drive around in a jeep doing a bad Aussie accent. Pastor Dave sees a guy out mowing his lawn (my buddy, of course) and sneaks up behind him whispering, “Here we see the rarest of all creatures: the male VBS teacher!”

    I laughed until I stopped.

I could see ‚ÄúSteve‚Äù walking up to any church‚Äôs grumpiest member and treating her like he treats a King Cobra. He would grab Mr. or Ms. Grumpy by the face and going nose to nose say something (Please add in the Australian accent.) like, ‚ÄúLook at her, the most dangerous member in this church. Give her a few seconds and she‚Äôll poison any optimism you might have about being in a church. Ain’t she a ‚Äúbeaut.?‚Äù Oh, she‚Äôs getting cranky so we‚Äôre going to let her go. There you go love, be on your way.‚Äù

Well, I had a comment yesterday about this and decided I’d be nice and not voice it. But since the rest of you didn’t hold back, I’d have to say in my congregation, due to the age of a majority of the members, that “dinosaur” comes to mind!

Don’t know what to say about this one. Except that Irwin might find a lot to sustain his considerable enthusiasm.

We are not all reptiles you know.
