Thanks for remembering Reese last Friday in your prayers. As you remember, I was not praying for him to get an A. I was praying for him to remember what he had studied. I was praying for him not to be calm and assured in the taking of the test. He was calm and assured. He did remember what he studied and, as it turns out, he got an A.

No jokes on this one. I’m still processing the news of the minister who was electrocuted while performing a baptism over the weekend. While standing waist deep in the baptistry he reached out to adjust a nearby microphone and was electrocuted. He was married with three young children. Thankfully the children were involved in the children’s program and did not see this event. Doctors performed CPR to no avail and he was pronounced dead upon arriving at the hospital.

I’ve been in the exact same situation. In a baptistry with the baptistry microphone. Not any more. If you have a microphone near the baptistry go rip it out today. If you just need to use a microphone use a battery operated handheld.

Some closing thoughts from Psalm 67:

God, have mercy on us and bless us and show us your kindness so the world will learn your ways, and all nations will learn that you can save. God, the people should praise you; all people should praise you. The nations should be glad and sing because you judge people fairly. You guide all the nations on earth. God, the people should praise you; all people should praise you. The land has given its crops. God, our God, blesses us. God blesses us so people all over the earth will fear him.
