Today I’m serving as a language translator for one of our Spanish speaking members who is trying to legalize her immigration status. The last time I did such a task required standing in line (outside) for 4 hours - waiting to get inside to stand in line for another couple of hours for about 15 minutes of translation services. And I thought the DMV was bad. It’s cold, rainy and windy today. Should make standing in line even more exciting.

I hear all the time about people who camp out to get tickets for this that and the other. I am not the kind of person who feels compelled to undertake such measures for a ticket. In fact, If I am standing in such line for such tickets you can bet it is under duress.

Have you ever camped out in a line waiting for tickets for that once-in-a-lifetime event? What was the event and why one earth did you do it?

Easy call on this one. I went to a local “ticket master” outlet the first year the Orlando Magic played in the NBA at around 2am. I was proud of the fact that I was the first one in line and when the store opened at 9am, I was able to score a couple of tickets to see Larry “Legend” Bird and the Boston Celtics.
It made me get all togyeqpf inside.

I’ve never done that….stood in line on purpose to get tickets for anything! I’m with you on this one. I really can’t think of any performer or team, etc. for which I would inflict that kind of frustration on myself. I get exasperated standing in line at the grocery store check-out!

Never stood in line except at 6 flags. There have been a few events I probably would have, if I had had the money to attend(can’t remember what they would have been at this time, so they probably weren’t really all that great anyway).
The service and a translator is a good one though, so the wait will be worth it(at least in my opinion).

You’ve never known this but I’ve gone up to Pepperdine in the very early hours of the morning to stand in line so that we could room together at the lectureship. It wasn’t cold and rainy, though.

In May, 2000, at six months pregnant, I got up at some middle-of-the-night hour, like 5 a.m. (I like to sleep) to stand in line for hours, just to get a number to determine my place in another line later in the day. Came back that afternoon to stand in 80-some-odd degree weather (hot for Portland standards) for a few more hours. But I was at an amazing game six Portland Trailblazers vs. LA Lakers semi-final game. It was one of the funnest evenings of my life. The next game in L.A. was the first step (lose a twenty-something point lead & miss the finals) on the road to the Trailblazers dark days, of which we are sadly still a part.

Don’t they have a GRINGO line at that place that puts you on the fast track? Hope it went well. Bless you in that service. ubabr
