The nice thing about working for a church within the shadow of the federal triangle is the observance of federal holidays. The more they can invent the better.
The spirit of Steve invaded our home over this long weekend and we are not sure if we should or how we should exercise his influence. Once the first Star Wars episode started to roll, the saga continued episode after episode (with the exception of III).
It’s been cold here and we had the fireplace running non-stop over the weekend. I pictured myself as one of those engineers feeding the furnace with coal to keep the locomotive rumbling down the track. But we can talk about my running later.
So now it is Tuesday and I’ll spend the day catching up from the work I didn’t do yesterday backed up against the work to be done today.
The lazy day we had yesterday promises to pay great dividends for the rest of the week.

That sounds like the perfect day. I know I’ve said this before, but I can’t wait until James is old enough to understand what’s going on in those movies (and not get freaked out by III). We are going to have such a marathon!

Doing nothing is one of my favorites. And I agree with you, keep the federal holidays coming.
My wife and I recently decided to take our oldest, who is 5, on the Star Wars journey. We started with Episode IV. We’re debating whether to take him into the (in our opinion) disappointing world of Episodes I, II, and III.

Oh yes, the good old days of government work…..
3 boys were bragging about how fast their dads drove. One boy said,”My dad is a banker. He gets off work at 5:00 and is home from downtown by 5:10.”
The second boy said, “Well my dad is a lawyer. He gets off work at 5:00 and is home from downtown by 5:05.”
The third boy said, “My dad works for the government. He gets off work at 5:00 and is home by 3:30.”
Government town + Ministry = freezer full of fish.

Sounds like my kind of day as well! If you get tired of a day of Star Wars flicks, how about war movies?

Being a Federal employee, all I can say is, “yes-s-s-s-s-s-s-!” Put the holidays together with a flex schedule, and it’s almost utopia……..

Along the movie marathon line, I should also point out that I look forward to the day that we watch The Lord of the Rings…extended version.

I think we should have lazy days like that once a week. Talk about refreshing & renewing. Sounds like it was a lot of fun, and most of all, relaxing. Reminds me of how we used to spend New Year’s Day - football games all day; grazing at the food “trough”; & generally doing nothing. It’s quite productive!
