I have a friend who is my music collection hero. He lost count, I believe, somewhere over 5000 CD’s. Yes you read that number correctly. No disparaging comments because he frequents the blog and with his extensive knowledge of computers, which far exceeds mine, he could shut down your refrigerator through your portal.

My little collection, somewhere in the neighborhood of 450, grows a CD or two a month. My latest acquisitions include:

TREE 63 - Worship Volume One, I Stand For You
NEWSBOYS - He Reigns, The Worship Collection
SWITCHFOOT - Nothing Is Sound

Those of you who recognize these bands and are surprised at my hip factor, don’t be surprised. My brother-in-law Brice updates me every once in a while on the good stuff. He is my own personal music shopping assistant. Now if I could just figure out how to get him to pay for the CD’s he recommends.

Anyone else have any top picks we should be considering?

Almost anything by Hillsong is great. My problem is similar to yours … my appetite for CDs far outweighs my ability to pay for them. So I basically stay away from Christian book stores.

I don’t have an extensive collection, but I’ve spent a lot more money on music than I could ever have imagined I would. I like a variety of artists, but one album I often come back to listen to because every song on it is so good is the compilation My Utmost for His Highest.

guess you haven’t added any more Sons of the Pioneers lately, have you?

Are the NEWSBOYS a boy band aka NSYNC or 98 Degrees? That would be soooo dreamy.

Whoa! I actually have TWO CDs by “Sons of the Pioneers” … outstanding harmonies. Grew up on that music.

Another CD that is a must (for country humor) is “Roadhog Moran and the Cadillac Cowboys: Alive at the Johnny Mac Brown Auditorium.” Actually, it is the Statler Brothers parody of a horrible country band, but they think they are Grammy-level musicians. It’s hillarious.

I guess you won’t take any suggestions that mention Neil Diamond, Bread, or Bee Gees‚Ķ?

That’s good stuff. I’m a music junkie too (stopped counting at 1000). Lately, iTunes has been my weapon of choice.

Eric Clapton’s “Reptile” is a must. I’ve been getting more instrumental stuff lately and will probably get Giachinno’s score to MI:III. It had that theme, but even more of his nice piano backgrounds.

They played Vangelis during my massage and it made me happy.

I just discovered today, Untitled Hymn by Chris Rice. Beautiful hymn. Bought it on iTunes. As far as I’m concerned whether you are Mac or PC, ITunes rocks.

I’ve not listen to Chris Rice before but plan to check him out.

Other than that, I am a David Crowder Band lover. They led worship one year at the National Pastors Convention and really rocked the house.

Is ZZ top a Christian band?

    Peace.
