The mighty dolphins prevailed over their number one rival (the all-stars) last night with an impressive 9 to 5 victory.

The dolphins and the all-stars have been the number one and two teams in the league for the past few years. The games are always exciting, tense and usually with a much closer score.

The two teams have played 5 times this year and the mighty dolphins have taken 4 out of the 5 games. Last night was the last time the team will face each other for the season.

The softball team has been a real source of encouragement and enjoyment for Beth and Madison. It’s one of those rare occurrences in the world of youth sports where the team has quality girls and quality parents.

Not all the girls are good softball players but they are good girls. The core group of parents are the kind of people you want your children around. Beth has done a great job teaching the girls (and the parents) about playing hard but playing to have fun.

They only have a couple of games left in the season but the game last night was the biggest game left. With 11 wins and 1 loss, barring any major upset, the mighty dolphins will swim away with the league title.

Of course it’s all because of the strategery and coaching of the best coach in the league.

May the spirit (can’t say ghost since they haven’t passed away) of Nick Buoniconti, Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Jim Langer, Larry Little, and Paul Warfield (Hall of Fame Members of the 1972 Undefeated Miami Dolphins) indwell your team.

What a joy it is when good players come with good parents. Congrats to Beth and you.

And behind every successful girl’s softball coach is one outstanding spouse!

Congrats to Beth and Madison. 11-1? I’m impressed! We always were happy just to be over .500 on a given season.

    What, Cecil? No Mercury Morris?

I would rag on you for the team names, but I root for the Angels.

James’ coach asked his 4-5 year olds to name their t-ball team a few weeks ago. Our shirts are blue so he asked them to come up with a name with the word “blue” in it. I, of course, immediately thought we should be the Blue Angels. The kids had practically no ideas…one of them finally suggested the Blue Skies. Wow. Worst_name_ever.

You’ll probably end up playing against The Rainbows or The Sunbeams.

I don’t know how far you go back to read comments, so I’m commenting here on your blog of yesterday, which I didn’t see ’til today. I, too, have prayed for you, because I suspected this might happen. I hope and pray that all will go well for you and your family. I believe Arlington’s loss will be Stockton’s gain. God bless you, Beth, Reese, and Madison over the next several months as you go through this transition.

PLEASE stay put on Sunday, June 18th, and the following Wednesday night. I’ll be in D.C. then, and I would absolutely HATE to miss the opportunity to meet you! You WILL blog from California, right?

Randy - You beat me to it!

Steve (excuse me Randy) - “Merc” isn’t in the Hall therefore, no mention. Plus, I had a hard time forgiving him for breaking up Butch (Jim Kiick) Cassidy and the Sundance (Larry Csonka) Kid.

    Congratulations!

Some of our very best memories and parenting efforts were through community baseball teams when Lex coached.

    Meomix -

I’ll be in DC the same Sunday. Maybe between the two of us Randy will be sure to show up, even if he uses one of his “used” sermons.

Congrats to all. It runs in the family, those coaching skills. I coached a junior high church basketball league and we were 1-11.

    Allez les dauphins.
