Cheating God

What do you think?  Can you cheat God and get away with it?

In what way would you be tempted to cheat God?

What foolish thought could enter our mind leading us to believe that we could cheat God?

Galatians 6:7-8 (NCV)  Do not be fooled: You cannot cheat God. People harvest only what they plant.  If they plant to satisfy their sinful selves, their sinful selves will bring them ruin. But if they plant to please the Spirit, they will receive eternal life from the Spirit.

Tonight, in our mid-week tune-up, we are going to see how this truth played out in the life of Ahab and Jezebel.

If you’re not busy tonight you should stop in and join the discussion.

Sounds like a great study. Any chance you could hold group tonight at my house? I will gladly provide dinner.

Can’t make it, but wish I could.

No, you can’t cheat God. But you can do a far worse thing. Happens all the time. You can ignore Him.

This has always stunned me about God. He could very easily make Himself be heard, seen, recognized. But He actually allows Himself to be ignored but people He loves.

    Can you cheat God? Yes.
Can you get away with it? Never
For some reason, though, we often act as if my priorities are above God’s! Truth is, we cheat God all the time. With our time. Priorities. Money. Conversation (not praying as we were taught by Jesus). First love. Plans.
Wish I could make it tonight, but the airfare is just too high and I have to go to a high school graduation. Otherwise ….. I do enjoy a good study out of the Old Testament! God’s blessings on your group study.

Mid-week tune up? Yes. At your place? No. I will be in historic Daytona Beach speaking tonight. Sand to the hubs!

On cheating God–I have a story that is way too long for this format–maybe when the memoirs come out.

However, we might want to consider the testimony of Ananias and Sapphira.

    Peace.

How ’bout if I come next week?

  6. Randy Says:

Brady, not only can you come next week you can teach!
