11 Jul 06 The Traveler’s Prayer

To be recited, according to the Talmud, before undertaking a journey:

"May it be Your will, Lord, My God and God of my ancestors, to lead me,
to direct my steps, and to support me in peace. Lead me in life,
tranquil and serene, until I arrive at where I am going. Deliver me
from every enemy, ambush and hurt that I might encounter on the way and
from all afflictions that visit and trouble the world. Bless the work
of my hands. Let me receive divine grace and those loving acts of
kindness and mercy in Your eyes and in the eyes of all those I
encounter. Listen to the voice of my appeal, for you are a God who
responds to prayerful supplication. Praised are you, Lord, who responds
to prayer."

You and yours are going to be okay. Know why? Because of Whose you are! :)

I like that prayer. I know this time of transition for you and your family is potentially filled with a great array of emotions. When I stress over these things (such as our near future of giving up an income to run a business with Josh and hope we make it), Janice looks at them from the perspective of, “Isn’t it exciting to just imagine what God has in store for us?” It is if God has good things (from my perspective) in store for us. But if He wants to build my character through poverty and adversity, I don’t get quite as excited about it … having read Job and all that stuff!!!

Many of us over on this coast are lifting you up in prayer. He’s faithful, brother. Can’t wait to get you back west.

Just found out from the Rev we’ll be seeing you one day early. I wonder how much it costs to fly “stand-by?” Have a safe flight.

Some of us on the east coast don’t want to let Randy go, but we know God has plans for him.
We are just grateful for the time we have had
with Randy and his family, and all we have learned from his great messages.

Randy, You are in our prayers as you start your Mexico mission trip!

God go with you my brother. As we say here in the south, “Hang in there like a hair in a bisquit!”
    Love you man!!
