A Mountain Burning With Fire

We could see the smoke for miles.  Even at 35,000 feet we could see the flames of the fire.

Passing over the wildfires in the California desert was truly a sight to behold.  It was so captivating I didn’t even think about trying to take a picture.  We just kept looking out the window.  The passengers on the left side of the plane stood up to look out the right side windows.  This particular airline features Direct TV service on every seat.  The current programming could not compete with the view from the window.

The smoke, the flames, the entire scene gave me a better picture of what Mt. Sinai might have looked like when the Lord descended and made his presence known.

Exodus 19:18  (New Century Version) Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord came down on it in fire.

O.K. you 70’s fans, someone cue up the song “Fire” by the Ohio Players.
Randy - I’ve seen smoke of the like you described in 1998 when 100 miles (starting with our exit) of I-95 were shut down for days due to wild fires.

Thanks for reminding us how awesome the power of God is in His Creation.

Now awesome would have been seeing the fires AND catching a taxi because I forgot to pick you up! Glad you’re here.

Not long ago, on a trip down south, Lisa and I (and all the other cars around us) came to a complete stop for about 45 minutes. A fire was being put out in the hills to our right and we were all just out, walking around on the freeway, watching the firefighters work. The old, wooden guardrail was flaming and we were all exchanging worried looks.

God wields powerful forces, amazing in their beauty.
