Faith Quest

20 Years. That’s almost like two decades.

This weekend marks the 20 year anniversary of Faith Quest.  I know it is a tired, worn cliche but wow time has certainly flown by!

20 years ago I was an intern with the Metro Church of Christ.  I went with Greg Woods to the house of Drew Brown for a planning meeting for the first ever Faith Quest.  My job was to put together the audio visual show for the weekend.  This, I did using the wonders of LP records and slides.  The next two years I worked with Greg Woods as the director.

I was honored to return 10 years ago as a keynote speaker.  And now, on the 20th anniversary, I return to speak again.  No, Greg England, I can’t just use the talks I used 10 years ago.  I can’t find them.

20 Years.  Am I really that old?

What do you mean, “Am I really that old?” ? Don’t you have mirrors in your house?

I’m glad you are returning for another great year of FaithQuest. Twenty years ago I was being influenced at FaithQuest by some hotshot intern while starting my freshman year in high school! :-) Now as a leader in a fairly young church we are sending out our first teens. You all are in my prayers this weekend - Satan hates this event with a passion, as is evidenced by his attacks on those who work so hard to bring Jesus to the teens of the Northwest. God will be glorified, no doubt, by your presence there.

It is a weekend of “Quests” as I will be at SonQuest in Orlando with our teens. Enjoy the time and get some sleep as well.

Kristi makes an interesting comment about those attacking “FaithQuest” as our SonQuest has been under attack. In fact, some of our traditional brethern are holding an “alternative event” at our local camp this very same weekend. Perhaps this is God’s way of working out things for both sides of the “clapping asile.” Silly isn’t it.

How fun to be able to remember something that was small and a blessing to grow into something big and a blessing.

Have kids changed in 20 years?
