Prayer

Faith Quest was a blessing.  In so many ways.  Perhaps I’ll sort through it via the blog at some other time.  Not sure about that yet.

Prior to each message a group of 4 to 5 people surrounded me, laid hands on me, and prayed.  I knew that my preparation would only take me so far.  The time of prayer before each message made the difference.

It’s the most visible thing I took away from the weekend.

It is an amazing thing to be prayed over. I gave a talk recently where I was prayed over the previous night…the morning of…about an hour prior to…and immediately before. At least 3 others were praying simultaneously as I was speaking.

I have never received more positive affirmations after a message than that one. And I have never heard as many people say, “That hit me really hard,” than I did that day.

Isn’t it a kicker that we’re always so amazed by the power of prayer but, at least for me, it is so often neglected. I look forward to your “Quest” Report.

On any given Sunday, one of about five people in our church goes into a room and prays for me while I am preaching, as well as praying that the Word will be effective in the heart’s needing it that day. That a person prays over me and everyone present each Sunday i’s a humbling ministry that I covet.

I remember somebody who used to pray for “whoever sits in this chair” when setting up for worship….IT WAS YOU.

I am so glad Faith Quest was a positive experience for you. I don’t even have to wonder if you made a lasting impact on the kids. That goes without saying.

At PUMP we have a great tradition of having the speaker prayed over prior to the lesson each week. The speaker gets down on his knees and is surrounded by several adults and children, two of whom word a prayer of blessing. Hearing the little children prayers is especially beautiful for all of us to here.
