Momentum

Momentum is an important part of church life.  Small success leads to great success.  Effective activities and events can build upon each other to propel the community of faith forward.  We’ve begun to build momentum here and it is quite encouraging.  I believe in using key events as the big building blocks and involving as many people as possible in the execution of these events as the small building blocks.  Stemming the Sit, Soak, and Sour tide is only possible when opportunities for growth and service abound.

Yesterday was homecoming Sunday.  This community of faith has observed this day each year as the anniversary of the start at their current location.  Many people were involved in many different ways to faciliate this "big" event.  Led by the Spirit we exalted Jesus and glorified God. In my opinion, this is a pretty good measuring stick for success.  Our plan is to continue having a "big" event once a month through the end of the year.  The plan is to continue building momentum so that people look forward to the weekly gathering of our community of faith.

We had our first rain last night here in Stockton.  Funny how you can get excited about something like rain.  It was a nice gentle rain - easily viewed as God blessing a very effective day.

Glad there is the big MO to move closer to God and to reach out to others.

Do you want some of our rain? We’re pretty tired of it…

I enjoy hearing about your church. I feel like we are all sort of getting to know the place together. You are blessed to be there and they are blessed to have you.

“Homecomings” are such a huge event in many of the churches in the south where I grew up. I’ve often thought we should have one out here, but then it has been such a blessing for us when many of them actually left!
We got a miniscule sprinkle last night. Not even enough for the drops to completely wet any surface, but enough to make the humidity rise. I’d love to have a good rain down here. Be even better if we had a thunderstorm! Don’t see those very often in this neck of the woods.

If Brady runs out of storms to share we can pass along some of our t-storms (Central Florida - The Thunder and Lightening Capitol of the world) as well.

I agree with Steve - it is a blessing to see you get to know your new church family.

I know in my experience there seems to be an almost direct correlation between number of fellowship activities to the amount of bickering the membership seems to do. The more they fellowship, the less you have of the latter.

It IS great to share from the sidelines how you and your new congregation are melding together.

It’s great to watch as you experience the emotional updraft of new experiences and opportunities at a congregation. Can we enjoy it vicariously?

I met Ellen at a church homecoming. It will always be a day I will remember everything about.

I pray that the momentum will continue fo your church family. Please pray for Creekside that we will begin that kind of momentum again. We have had so many people in hurting situations this year. Death, physical pain, emotional pain, addiction, and more. All of this came at a time in our history that was beginning to feel this kind of momentum. Just don’t forget that Satan is out there just waiting for his opportunity.

Surround yoursselves with the protection of the angels of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. God bless you.
