Each Friday I take a truckload of boxes to the recycling bin. It seems we are almost officially moved in. We’ve been here 56 days or so and I’ve only re-arranged the home offices and theater room twice. I’m not sure what it is about me or what mutated gene resides within that at around 10PM when I’m tired and have other things to do I decide to re-arrange furniture. Anyone out there identify with this strange behavior.
We’ve reached the point where it’s time to start hanging the art on the wall. I have an especially big painting that will require some assistance. If all goes as planned I will not be blogging on Monday about my visit to the ER whilst attempting to hang the big painting.
Perhaps tonight at around 11PM I’ll sneak back down to the church and re-arrange all my sound equipment.

We’re too much alike, so obviously this is more a matter of genius than genetics!
Like the new blog look, by the way.
I was wondering when you would satisfy your “template fetish?â€
I don’t think I’m quite as anal, I mean obsessive, I mean compulsive, O.K., I mean as “intelligent†as you and Greg but my wife claims that I do have my moments. Moments such as insisting that the car be clean, inside and out before taking it to the repair shop. She just doesn’t understand.
Greg, when was the last time you clean your carpets?
Hanging a big painting? We just installed a four foot by 24 foot painting in the university’s new business building on a curved wall. I only had three carpenters, two assistants, a professor and a hydrolic lift to work with and most of the day to do it. Would have taken less time without the professor.
First, spot the painting where you want to hang it.
2. Lift it up and determine the height. Measure from the floor to the bottom of the painting. Write that number down.
3. Place the painting back on the floor where you want it to hang. Is that where you want it to be? Measure the width.
4. Someone place a finger at one side of the painting. Move the painting out of the way. Measure half the width of the painting from the finger to determine the center of the painting. Make a mark.
5. At the back of the painting, measure the distance between the two d-rings. From the center line mark measure out half the d-ring distance to one side and make a mark. Do the other direction.
6. Back to the verso of the painting measure the distance from the bottom of the painting to the top of the d-ring.
7. Back to the wall and one of the side marks, measure up from the floor the distance from the bottom of the painting to the d-ring, plus the height from the floor earlier determined.
8. Repeat with the other side (d-rings may not be evenly set on the back of the painting).
9. Using picture hangers, nail into the measured spots.
10. Pick up painting, flip d-rings up, move to wall and hang d-rings on hooks.
Painting now on wall. Enjoy. Now watch baseball.
I like the new look. Well done.
I do not do anything after 10pm that I think will keep me thinking past 11pm.
You have grown attached to that painting, haven’t you?
You’re weird.
