Right outside my office window is a shrub of some sort. I’ve never studied much horticulture so the only thing I can tell you is that it has green leaves and red berries. Perhaps in another post I will share why you don’t eat the red berries.
Most mornings (when I’m paying attention) I sit down at my desk an watch pleasantly as a small band of small birds jump and hop and scurry about in the shrub. They might be eating the red berries, they might be eating insects, its hard to tell.
I read once that to watch birds in the wild eat was to see God’s grace in action. That evidence of God’s grace is on display each time we see a bird eat.
Look at the birds in the air. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, but your heavenly Father feeds them. And you know that you are worth much more than the birds. (Matthew 6:26 from the New Century Version)
