The Bachelor

Beth is traveling on business this week leaving the kids and I to fend for ourselves.

When my mom would be away, and my dad had cooking duties, we could always count on home cooked hamburgers and french fries.

Along with french toast it was the only thing he would or could cook inside.

One night, perhaps tomorrow night, I’ll make hamburgers and french fries.

Either that or we’ll just go to In-N-Out.

When Lisa leaves town, James knows he’s getting pizza.

Sounds like you need an air mailed supply of Sonny’s bbq? We’ll try not to forget the (anybody remember the “M.A.S.H. episode about “Adam’s Ribs?”) cole slaw.

Go to one of those big box stores and load up on cereal and milk! Bread and peanut butter goes a long way as well.

One time when I was a kid and my mom went out of town (which wasn’t often, thank goodness), my dad was making breakfast. He was a child of the Depression & definitely a waste not, want not kind of guy. He found some moldy bacon in the fridge, scrapped off the mold & served it up. We didn’t find out until later & needless to say mom wasn’t too happy to hear about it. Nonetheless, we all survived. Probably gave us a good dose of natural penicillin anyway.
