Resolutions
Most New Years resolutions focus on redistribution. Here are two examples:
- More hair in some places and less hair in other places.
- More mass in some places and less mass in other places.
Rather than focus on resolutions of redistribution imagine what would happen if we made resolutions that focused on transformation.
The better resolution begins with this question: "What kind of person do I want to be this year?
There is a good answer to this question contained within the writings of the Apostle Peter.
2 Peter 3:11 (NCV) So what kind of people should you be? You should live holy lives and serve God, as you wait for and look forward to the coming of the day of God.
So here are my resolutions for 2007:
- I resolve to pursue holiness.
- I resolve to serve God.
- I resolve to look forward, with eagerness, to the return of Jesus.
Happy New Year everyone. I continue to be grateful for your company on this blog journey.

I read that one in four Americans expect Jesus to show up this year. If we are all transformed, he will be showing up everywhere.
God bless you in your quest…
My thoughts have always been that what we need is a New Year’s Revolution, not New Year’s Resolutions.
Jesus was a revolutionary, not a resolutionary.
I would add to your list at #4, Lift Thick to Get Thick!
Peace.
Amen to both comments above. I can’t add much, except that I stopped making resolutions years ago … but I’m thinking of two for this year. To not lose weight, and to not increase my amount of daily exercise. I think I can keep these two.
A blessed year to you, Beth, Madison, Reese and your church family.
