Even if you don’t like college football or sports in general (you know who you are) you have to like the epic battle last night between Oklahoma and Boise State.
My apologies to all my okie friends, but what a game! Three cheers for the mid-major schools!
During the pre-game broadcast the commentators were drawing the parallels between David and Goliath. Boise State, you know them because they play on a blue field, a lesser known football program (David) going up against Oklahoma a football powerhouse (Goliath). It just goes to show that in sports, on any given day, anything is possible.
Boise State ran with the big dogs the entire game, leading most of the game. With a little over a minute left the Boise State quarterback let fly an errant pass that was intercepted for a touchdown. After a successful two point conversion Oklahoma was ready to claim the Fiesta Bowl title. But wait, there is a reason they play every single second! With time running out the Boise State offense pulled a razzle dazzle play from the depths of the playbook and scored a touchdown to tie the game and send the game into overtime.
Oklahoma roared back and scored a touchdown on the first play in overtime. Boise State had their opportunity and used every play in the book to finally get into the end zone. Rather than settle for an extra point attempt to send the game to a second overtime the offense took the field, went for two and on the old Statue of Liberty play won the game. It was fantastic!
Though we had sent the kids to bed they kept running back downstairs to see the reason for the yelling.
