Pescatological Pursuits

We officially opened the fishing season yesterday afternoon by catching nothing.

The sun was shining.  The water was clear.  Fish were jumping on the other side of the lake (of course).

I’m pretty sure the fish had organized over there and were having fun teasing us.  Flapping their fins and taunting us.

We had rootbeer and snacks and didn’t get our hands slimy having to mess with taking all those fish of our hooks.

A slow start to our fishing season, yes, but we started.

Looking back on the hours and hours I spent fishing with my father-in-law, some of the best trips resulted in catching no fish … but what I learned from him was worth every fishless minute. And there is something to be said about drinking the rootbeer and eating the snacks without having to get your hands slimey!

May all your flys cast as well as your rods cast during this fishing season.

    What I know about fishing:

Wind from the West fish bite best.

    Peace.

    Hello Randy,
Ebere here - I am tempted to make a fish joke in the fisher of men variety. Mostly, I am happy to have finally fulfilled a long abiding desire to resume reading and posting comments on your blog.
Ok. I’ll say it. Your "fishing" today was not entirely unproductive.

My idea of a good fishing day would be to lean up against a tree with a good book and listen to the others drag in the fish!
