The Lord Will Provide

We headed over to Lowe’s last night to price some things for our soon to be house.  There in the middle of the road I spotted a wallet.  We made a legal u-turn and went back to investigate where we picked up the wallet and discovered it still contained its contents.  Drivers license, bank cards, cash, and pictures.  Isn’t God good?  Swifter than the insurance company, God reimbursed us for our destroyed dash and stolen CD player!

Beth said, "wouldn’t it be funny if this wallet belongs to the person who broke into our car."

Do you know how hard it is to return a missing wallet?  Can’t find the guy in the phonebook.  No number to call in the wallet.  The police said they’d come by and pick it up last night and return it but they never showed (must be tracking down my stolen CD player).  So, I’ll run over to the PD today and drop off the wallet.  That’s right - headed downtown - to the precinct - I’ll probably get my wallet stolen trying to return this one!

Knowing how many people would look at it exactly that way (reimbursement for stolen CD) and keep it and that some more would say the police will keep it for themselves so why return it……………………..I’m proud to know you!  :)

When I hear someone talk about finding a wallet I always think about my Dad returning state-side after serving a year in Okinawa when he was in the Army.  Apparently he was on post in California (could have been “The Presidio”) awaiting a flight home to Florida when he lost his wallet.  My Dad was prone to carry lots of cash and apparently he had several hundred dollars in his wallet which back in the 60’s was a lot of money to military family.

Even as a 3rd grader I can remember the mixed emotions of our family being reunited when Dad returned.  About a week later the wallet with cash intact was retuned to my Dad.  Apparently another serviceman found the wallet and performed a deed much like yours.

The only thing I’d do different is to describe the wallet to the police and tell the name on the driver’s license and DL number. If they really want to find out the owner’s location, they can do the DMV search that you can’t do. Otherwise I’d keep it in my possession. Many such "insignificant" things like that have mysteriously disappeared in PD property rooms. I’m not saying cops are bad … I’m saying I know the contents would be safe in my keeping. I don’t feel so confident in the hands of others.

Now you have a reason to return to Vegas, baby!

I agree with Greg on holding on to it until proper owner shows up and then you can collect the big bucks reward money!

You are one honest brohammer. I recommending to Jerry Rushford that you be allowed to testify at the evening keynote at P’dine.

    Peace.
