Our house band played this past Saturday night (minus our bass player) to kick off a major special event weekend. Our community of faith holds an annual Mom, Flag, & Apple Pie service which honors members of our community of faith who have served or who currently serve in the military. A meal is served after services and everyone participates in a pie auction. The proceeds for the pie auction will fund scholarships to Sierra Christian School.
We tried this time giving the music out a head of time and meeting the night before to practice for a couple of hours, a run through on Saturday afternoon and "live" Saturday night. From a musician stand point it wasn’t as polished as it could be. From a worship standpoint it was not over-rehearsed, a genuine expression of praise.
I’ve only played one or two times since our last praise night. In the middle of the set Saturday night my left hand (the one responsible for chords on the fret board) actually lost all feeling and was somewhat welded to the neck of the guitar. All this house remodeling has really taken a toll on my hands. The upside is I’m ready for Mexico this year!
Check this out. Sunday my message focused on David’s Mighty Men. One of the three name Eleazar once fought so long that his hand was "welded" to his sword. Until that night I had never been able to identify with that experience. Fortunately it was not in the context of battle. I just thought it was something that the weekend I was talking about Eleazar and others my hand would actually "freeze" to the neck of my axe. Sure, it’s a stretch and wimpy comparison but what more do you want? It’s Monday after all!

I think it’s a worthy comparison! Now just don’t start trying to do that valley of dry bones thing!

There is nothing “wimpy” about a hand being frozen to an axe! This may require that you buy another axe and that, my friend, is not a wimpy thing for a man to have to do! I’ve done it numerous times.

Pray for me as I try and put together people who will be willing to do a praise band. It’s hard where I am, but I’m still trying. I’m probably gonna have to go outside the c of C. Hope your hand gets better.

Sometimes my hand gets welded to the lawn mower. But I’ve never played guitar long enough to get “stuck”.
