Almost

We sat outside last night eating dinner and the question came, directed at Reese.  He smiled and said "salad and vegetables, grains and milk."   We were home-free had he not continued talking.   "And dad," he said excitedly, "bought me an Oreo Frappe from Mocha Joe’s every morning!"

We enjoyed our time together in so many ways.  The boy has struggled making the move here and over the past three weeks I began to see the happy boy emerge again.  We missed the girls and there is a certain equilibrium that has returned with their presence.

My advice?  Spend time with your kids.  Forget about working endlessly to buy stuff they don’t need or stuff that will break (or as Jesus said, will rust or moths will destroy).

You cannot put a price on the time you spend with kids.  Don’t you dare leave a comment about quality time over quantity time.  You never know when the quality time will happen.  It’s in the quantity that we are able to discern the quality.

AMEN brother! Because, before you know it, you will be taking them to far off lands to learn a thing or two…and then, you will be so glad to have those times to think back on!

Your remarks reminded me of some wise counsel I received from a Principal early in my career. He said, “You never know when what seems to be an “insignificant” remark that you make to a child ends up leaving an indelible mark on a child.” I suppose it take “quantity” time to have a chance of that occurring.

I’m enjoying all our kids now. But it officially ends on September 15.

    But who’s counting?

Ditto on the Cats and the Cradle wfma.

I love being with my kids. especially when they are doing the things that God has blessed them with the talent to do.

    Hearty AMEN to this blog.

Developing a close relationship with my children takes more than just an evening or a day or two of being together. It takes deliberate planning over the years to make sure the interaction takes place. Even now when my kids are 19 and 18 years of age I love being with them every moment God gives me. Make it your treasure because before you know it life takes their attention in other directions and you realize that was not what you wanted.
