Have you seen them? Tell me have you seen them? The bluetooth headset for the mobile phone is becoming a commonplace item.
Sure, the early devices were hastily purchased by Trekie and Techno Savy Geeks but now grandpas, grandmas and grandministers everywhere are sporting bluetooth headsets.
I resisted and resisted. Even hurled a disparaging comment or two at headset wearers — of course none to any of you that I know who have worn a bluetooth headset.
And then I decided to try one of the entry level devices. All I’ve got to say is "hands free baby, hands free and beam me up Scotty!"

I call them “ear roaches” but we have the kind that is very small and non-obtrusive. (They make them even smaller now, almost like an inner ear hearing device.) I love the freedom they give and the ones we have are very clear both to us and to the ones to whom we are talking. Welcome into the world of bluetooth! Of course, us southerners have had those discolored teeth for generations, so it’s nothing new to us.
ah.. so now when your talking to yourself aloud and are caught, you can point to the blue tooth…
You should have know that it was futile to resist. Kind of like resisting your Mac talk.
They say they are safer for drivers than actually holding a phone in the hand.
I think the drivers actually are more dangerous with them, ’cause they keep looking in the rear-view mirror at themselves to see how they look with their new blue tooth phone. In fact, I was thinking, you probably look just like secret service agent Aaron Pierce (24), only a lot younger.
Oh no, you too? Just take it out before you preach, OK?
There have been many times Rick and I have wondered about a person talking to him/herself, only to spy the little bluetooth thingy in his/her ear. (English needs a gender neutral pronoun!) We play the, “insane or bluetooth?” game all the time when we’re walking around downtown.
Borg
If I had one I would be tempted to start saying something like, “Captain’s log, star date 2427.2, we’ve come to Seti Alpha Major Minor 7 in search of Spock’s Brain and I will find it. Do you hear me mister!”
