My mind has been whirling at some serious RPM’s lately. I’ve got pads of paper filled with notes and ideas. Useful stuff like, "the easiest way to pay for the remodel is to write a best-seller."
Amidst the nonsense I always fine some worthwhile ideas and some interesting questions. I like the questions because it gives me the chance to wrap my brain around some ideas and concepts to become more effective.
In the midst of the flurry I wrote down this question "If tomorrow your church disappeared what difference would it really make?"

Lots of dimensions in that question! We just spent a long weekend camping in Canada with some members and our worship message was about the Body… we focused on how the body reacts when something is hurt and how the Body should react in a similar manner when a member of the Body is hurting. So in that discussion if the church disappeared, our potential support is gone… or more personally, my responsibility to be supportive is removed… (is that why people sometimes leave, to avoid that responsibility?)
Of course my paycheck is not coming from the church so my answer could be slightly different from many of the posters here.

Now that is a good question (and scary) to filter the mission of the church through.
