Refills

Haven’t we passed that point in eatery history that a food establishment charges for refills?  I have a general principle not to frequent a place that charges for refills.

Sure, the sandwich and pasta salad I had at one local !joint was quite delicious (though the chicken sandwich could have used a little more aioili) but a 25 cent charge to refill my ice-tea?  Are you kidding me?  The insult to injury, slap to my pappy insult is that the beverage machine was one of those self-service, fill up yourself refreshment dispenser.

A 25 cent fee to refill ice-tea?  To some it may just be an extra quarter.  To me it’s at least $2.50!  It’s ice-tea for crying out loud.

Beth and I frequented a Japanese restaurant in VA quite frequently.  She would get hot tea and not be charged.  I would order ice-tea and get charged.  I finally started asking for a glass of ice and a pot of hot tea.

When I’ve payed over a dollar for a glass of ice tea I think I should get free-refills, or am I just squeaking as I’m typing?

There was a very good restaurant near us in Long Beach but they charged for refills. I got to be friendly with the owners as we ate there often and I told them if they wanted to be competitive on Atlantic Ave (filled w/ fast food joints), they would need to give free refills. They didn’t and went out of business within a year. Why don’t people listen to me?

Refills in tea, especially sweet tea should be a given. Restaurants who do not serve sweet tea should be given third world status.

We went to our favorite tepanyaki place last night and had a yummy dinner. But I ordered water because they charge for soda refills.

We’re not the cheapskates. They are!

Beverage refills should be added to the Bill of Rights, especially at the prices that they charge in the first place. I with you, charge me once but I won’t be back.

We know of waiters here who love American customers because the USAers don’t know that in Europe:

The tip is included in the bill (15 percent extra) and…

Refills are NOT free (and most drinks cost around 3 dollars…)

Agreed. Refills should be a law.

    FYI, Faith Quest was amazing!!!
