The kids have been playing on the school sports teams this year. Madison is playing volleyball and Reese is playing soccer. Today the volleyball team takes on the staff. There’s been quite a bit of good natured teasing and trash talking. Some of the 8th grade girls can pound that ball. It will be interesting.
We bumped (see I’m a gamer) up the trash talking today and created a "Release of Whinability" that we are jokingly telling the girls they have to sign. After all, Volleyball against the staff is a dangerous, very dangerous thing and tears on the court are a safety hazard.
I’ve got a bottle of extra strength tylenol, a tube of icy hot, and enough neoprene braces to cover the pipes for winter.
Game on!

Ah, I remember my days as the “young Mr. Walker” on a very young faculty playing our Middle School Basketball Team. We used to give them 4 points a basket and cheat in their favor to keep it from being a complete blow-out in our favor.
Now days, we (faculty) get 4pts per basket and cheat like crazy to hopefully pull off a win. May “Ben Gay” be close to your side.

I just hope that Madison made sure to inform her teammates that you play dirty. I’m picturing you on the back line yelling at your front line “sweep the leg sweep the leg” as the girls go up for a kill or a block

Are you sure you’re prepared for this?

we had the annual senior class against faculty basketball game. the faculty would cheat like crazy.. but it was a really great time, the whole school looking on; cheering the teachers on under threat of extra work. the school nurse was on the sideline at the ready…on the student’s bench. i wonder if they could still get away with such a physical game these days..(all these many years later)..
