We Grieve and We Rejoice

Danny and I met each other when I was senior in high school.  He had recently graduated from ACU and had moved to Victoria, Texas to manage his parents Gibson department store.  Anyone old enough to remember this store?

We became fast friends and our lives have weaved in out ever since.  We tried unsuccessfully on several occasions to work together in ministry.  A few times we got close but it just didn’t seem like it was in the master plan.  I’ve spoken where he ministers and he’s returned the favor - conducting retreats and seminars.

Danny is a gifted writer and has a knack with people (having that thick Texas accent probably helps).  He ministers now for his hometown church and writes a weekly article for the local newspaper.  The newspaper article has been a most effective venue for ministry.  We’ve enjoyed many good times and have encouraged each other through some bad times.

Danny’s father has not been in good health for the last couple of years and I just received word this morning that his father did in fact pass away.  Here’s Danny’s email:

My dad, Danny Mann, Sr., left life on earth to live it in the very presence of his Heavenly Father and his elder brother, Jesus, at 8:45 pm on Monday, October 1, 2007.
So we grieve . . .
And we rejoice . . .
And we grieve . . .
And we give thanks . . .
And we grieve . . .
And we have hope . . .
And we . . . . . .

Please pray for my friend and his family.
