The Skateboard
Remember the skateboard fad, phase, phenomenon?
Thought it was a relic of the past along with other fads of the eighties (baby on board signs, keyboards played like a guitar, video arcades, trivial pursuit and MC hammer pants)?
Not so my fellow connoisseurs of hip and hop.
The skateboard and boarders in general are alive and well in Stockton, CA.
We have a whole den of them just down the street.
I’m amazed at their balance, poise, construction skills, and fearless pursuit of self-expression.

We have a skateboard park about a mile from our house. It is amazing how those kids do all of those tricks on those boards. It is a really neat skill.
Did you ever take apart the old skates that fit to a shoe and nail them to a board? We were skateboarders years ago before OSHA made everyone wear protective armor.
There are lots of skateboarders here. Sundays, they are at the lake showing off their stuff. It’s amazing.
