Everlasting God

Posted under Blog Thoughts

Lately this is the first song I play when I pick up my guitar:

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary
You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

You can listen to it on the MUSIC tab (not me playing or singing though I do sound remarkably unlike Chris Tomlin!)

I have also been playing this song so much that my son is starting to hum it in the house.

I play along with my Promise Keepers CD that has an arrangement of this song by Lincoln Brewster. I do pretty well until the solo part comes up, then I kind of lose it. I need to practice, practice, practice!

“Everlasting God” has become a favorite of our Praise Team and our church. I know for me I can’t help but raise my hands to the Lord when I sing it. I guess that would make it hard to play the guitar but then again, I don’t have the “sickness.”

we’ve been singing this a lot at church lately, too.
i really like the words…but i sometimes can’t help but feel like i’m trapped in a musical when it is sung….

Our PT just taught this to the congregation. Love it. That said, I never play it when I pick up a guitar. Maybe, though, that is because whenever I pick up a guitar I mostly just think, “why am I holding a guitar?”

Randy, sorry I haven’t called. Tomorrow?

It’s so weird that you would write about that song today. I listen to three and only three radio stations, classic rock, NPR, and Contemporary Christian. Which pretty much defines me in a nutshell.

I was awake quite a bit last night concerned about a big meeting at work to take place this afternoon, and on my commute this morning, I tuned in and heard Everlasting Love and sang along on my way to work.

Then I forgot about the meeting. Completely. All Day. It did not cross my mind even once.

They had to page me to remind me to come.

Well, you’ll have to sing it for us when we come. Haven’t heard it yet. So I’ll look it up.

This is one of my favorite songs now. We’re singing it Sunday.

That “waiting” referred to in the song is the hard part for me! I’m going to look up the song.

I, too, love that song. It was one of several I was planning on teaching our praise band, but never had the opportunity before leaving Long Beach and ministry.
