This place has a different feel during the summer when school is out.
The halls are quiet.
The playground is quiet.
The cafeteria is quiet.
That eerie kind of quit, right before the bad stuff happens.
There is a palpable sense of ease in the office (a bit more relaxed and not so hurried).
But it’s a bit too quiet.

A Principal I worked for once said about our brand new, $22 million dollar school just before it opened, “This school is nothing more than a nice office building until you put students and teachers in it and allow the learning to begin.”

Since I do a lot of work from home I have the opposite experience.
There is sound of restless play and project throughout the house.
My routine is off.
I hardly touch my guitar.
But I know that as soon as the boy get back to school, just after I have adapted to the summer mode, that I will miss my family being here with me during the day.

maybe you should record the ambient noise of school in session for the summer hours…
there is a catholic school across the street from our townhome and sometimes i am home when the kids are out at recess.. that is a great sound… i kinda miss it during the summer.
