We “replaced” the van a few months ago and have been planning to donate it to the church in Mexico.
Our friend from Arlington who died unexpectedly drove the van out here for us two years ago when we moved.
I hadn’t given that van a second thought until Tuesday.
Now, there is a part of me that wants to hang on to that van as a memory and tribute to his servant heart.
We’ll still donate the van but it’s something how the oddest thing can be such a powerful reminder.

Donating the van in your friend’s memory is the perfect tribute to his servant’s heart.
But I know what you mean…I keep my Dad’s fishing creel, fly rod and flies— the wooly worm, the ginger quill, all of them— on a shelf in our family room. Been there for years. They shall not be moved.

I wondered if I had met your friend when visiting at Arlington……….and I did. I remember him very well and that he was going to do some driving for you. Again, I’m so sorry. As others have said, donating the van would surely be an apt tribute. But it is hard to let go of things like that.
