Choir Concert

We attended the first Choir concert of our number one daughter yesterday.

It was everything you would expect a freshman choir to sound like and so much more.

I had a great time.

It was fun, it was dicey and it was a delight.

In spite of the tone and pitch problems (good thing the American Idol judges were not in attendance) the singers gave it their all.

You ever find yourself in the audience at such an event and just want to start shouting “bravo, bravo”?

I am not a passive listener. Went to the symphony last Saturday night.
    Berlioz - Le carnaval romain
    Saint-Saens - Suite algerienne, Op. 60
Tchaikovsky - Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74 (Pathetique)

The strings held together surprisingly well. The flute and trumpet sections need to tighten up. Worst tympani player I’ve heard in 30 years.

But during the second movement of the Tchaikovsky symphony when the 5/4 time emphasis goes back and forth from
123.12/12.123/123.12/12.123 to the passage with the usual 123.12 and then back to the 123.12/12.123, it was seemless.

Good performance, and at the end I started thinking that they needed to turn it up to 11, so I could feel it in my gut.

Yes, I have wanted to shout it, and have, at our kids’ concerts. Few things are as moving as seeing them sing and play with others.

Yep! For one, the time when Michael dropped the winning basket from behind half court just as the buzzer sounded! :)

I wonder if rising to your feet and lighting a cigarette lighter would have been appropriate.
