Would You Rather?

It’s official.  I’m now certified (tell us something we didn’t know!) to substitute teach in three area school districts.

I knew from the experience of others that there is a demand for substitute teachers.  I did not know how great was the demand.

The nice lady from one district called to congratulate me and explained to me how the automated sub finder system works. She concluded her explanation with “would you like to sub today?

Every single district explained the necessity and value of assembling a “super-sub” bag filled with lesson plans, sponge activities, time-fillers and on and on . . .

Last night, the kids helped me put the final touches on the first prototype of my super-sub bag.  I know I’ll be modifying it as soon as I actually set foot into a classroom but for now it’s stocked and ready.

We looked through hundreds of “would you rather” scenarios and came up with a few of the top (and appropriate) scenarios to use for strategic classroom use.

So, would you rather . . .

Be able to communicate fluently with all animals - OR - automatically understand all foreign languages?

I would rather know what Chipper the psycho-pup is thinking than be able to talk with most people of a foreign language.

You little “super-bag” … do you have the latest Guitar Center catalog in it? That could keep you busy and the kiddies interested all day.

I’m with Greg. I’d like an explanation from Cujo, I mean Chipper about my sunglasses.

I will be gone a couple of days in February. Is the drive down here too far for you?

Congrats! It won’t be long before you catch on as a favorite sub for certain teachers and get to really pick your assignments. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to kick out a punk or two as a lesson to the rest of ‘em!

Yes, congratulations. And I hope you were nice to all of your subs when you were a kid.

I’d like to speak every language and communicate with people. Hands down. I’ve seen that dogs sniff and scratch… Not that interesting.

    Do well…
