The earthquake in Haiti is certainly a tragedy.
The images and stories coming from the rubble are heart breaking.
The fact that a certain “religious figure” feels compelled to categorize such world events as a sign of God’s wrath against the Haitians is also a tragedy.
Doesn’t God’s heart ache for the Haitians?
Last time I checked, God loves the world, not just our corner of it.

I missed that particular comment by a “religious leader.” I believe God weeps with those who are suffering.
But somebody someplace is always going to approach things from that point of view – of punishment. I had people in my own family who leaned toward the devastation from Katrina as God’s wrath on New Orleans!

Is God’s wrath only something that happened only in the “Bible days”, or does he still give punishment in the present? I am unclear on that issue. What I am clear on is that even in Biblical times God offered his love, even to those he punished. I don’t think it is for us to know whether or not God is punishing Haiti and we certainly shouldn’t be happy about it if he is. However, it is for us to share God’s love.

He and his cronies drive me nuts! But they are the oddballs that not only attract the media, but give us a bad rep.
